I’m often asked the question when I return from the Philippines, “How did it go?” This time I answered, “I think that it was our most successful trip so far.” Pastor Robbie McAlister, Bob Ellingsworth and I went together. The enclosed picture shows the primary group that we worked with this time. It was a combination of youth leaders and adult leaders from the six churches that we are working with. In the past, we have welcomed any leaders that wanted to attend. Time before last, we had 80 leaders in our class. We decided this time to cut the number down to just the ones that were really committed to work together with us, and really try to practice what we are teaching. Our expenses were less this way also. It was a great time.
So that you can get to know them, Pastor Herman Arce is next to Robbie, 2nd from left; Pastor Resty Miranda is the 4th from the right. Pastor Zaldi Villamil was not able to be with us that day. These are our primary workers in the six churches. Three of these churches are house churches. Most of the smaller churches in the poverty areas cannot afford buildings, so they meet in homes. The homes are actually better, as they are closer to the people who cannot afford transportation. Expenses are much less, also.
I deeply appreciate your prayers for us on these trips. There are many challenges and needs. I really thank each of you who pray and support us financially in this. We have been supporting 32 children to be able to attend school. Five of those moved and had to drop out. We added 10 more from Pastor Resty’s church for the new school year, and we added 10 from Pastor Zaldi’s church. So this makes 48 children that can go to school who would not be able if we were not there. When a child cannot go to school, they often can only sell drugs or become prostitutes when they grow up. We can help a child for $45. a year. If you would like to support one or more children to go to school, or if you would like to ask your Pastor or church to help support these trips, please let me know. People are being saved and also ones being trained in each of these six churches regularly. If you would like to become a “Prayer warrior” for one of these leaders, let me know and I will send you their name and picture.
Thanks again for your gracious support and prayers for us. Many of you have stood with us for years. May God richly repay and bless you. We greatly appreciate you.
Sincerely, united to reach our world for Jesus Christ, 2 Cor. 9:8 12:9-10 Rom. 8:31-39
